How's was your Earth Hour? Mine was historical...

How was your Earth Hour? I spend mine with Singapore 1st participation in this annual historical event.

The picnic was nice, cosy and fun, good company with my artistes and definitely good music, the song selections of the evening was mainly jazzy and inspirational, MY FAV...

The food was simple, humble and nice... just what I expected for the evening... Yummm!

I must add, the volunteers for the evening was great, friendly, helpful and yes thoughtful, they had everything planned and prepare, a cleaner seated nicely with fresh rolls of toilet paper, outside the portable restrooms, and they were alot cleaner than I expected... volunteer distributed candles for participants, and even walkabouts to help light up the candles, with safety measures mentioned, towards the end of the evening, they came around with garbage bags to help everyone to clear and avoid any littering.... perfect...

Though with constant Insane humor, I must add, I was still in a slight work mode, well rather my mind is also compiling other work related stuff... like confirming appointments, events dates, calls... ahhh... okok...I shan't not con't...

The lack of sleep is getting to me...I need that 7 hours... well ok, 6 hours...I'll head to my lovely bed now... sorry folks... gotta go... My head, body is so aching...

And yes, my dear artistes, you are still constantly in my mind...

Friday is a super meet here and meet there day...

Today met Ms Chin for meeting then meet another appointment then Ms Chin, and then a short "on the way" kind of meeting with TY... then finally in the evening met up with NYP coolest ppl!!!

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so might be coaching for NYP again... though this time for a different group of people... for NYP's graduation in May.... coolnessssss!

Anyway... many people are bugging me for shots of yesterday's shoot at TEENAGE... I say... PATIENCE IS VIRTUE.... hehehehe...

Also, I've got tickets for Campus Superstar preview show recording on Tues, 31st March 2009, 6:30pm.

Keen to go? Can.... got condition, dress code, nice and shades of purple!

Hehe... a sneak peek above on the TEENAGE shoot I went today... with my artistes, Mic and RC... they did pretty well, good chemistry... perhaps they did their 'homework' I told them to do!

I had a good day... always feels good when my artistes do a good job!

An Article I read...

I read an article today, it was a informal interview with the CEO of an Artiste Management.

It was brief and straight to the point.... the CEO made pointers that I too share about the reason behind having an artiste manager or being managed by an company.

Many actors, singers ...simply put, artistes constantly self proclaim that the industry is too small, and people in the entertainment line cannot make a living for themselves...

well that's why we (Artiste Managers) are here... cos these 'artistes' have no business sense to promote, market and package themselves...

Its so simple and straight forward... full stop! TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT!

I like that way of explaining to people... cos' its tiring to keep explaining to ignorant 'artistes', with a freelance mentality why they need a manager...

A call from a Overseas UAN Artiste...

This evening I received a call from R, well its been a while since I got his call... well his CNY this year.

Anyway... He was an artiste with me for a while... since 2006 plus... a aspiring drummer then... and been playing for live shows, on the road around Singapore...

typically like most local bands, they split up and form new ones, and in 6mths... new band... but often the same few switches of band members...

I mentioned to him before... local bands... need to be A BAND... AS ONE...and let egos down... then they will grow...and go places...

And also, I always tell my artistes... in this line, its all about pleasing the audiences... and its the labels and managers calling the shots...cos they are the ones who market you, the artiste the product...

Now in Indonesia, he's signed to EMI Indonesia, as a band...but a couple of changes...

He's now a guitarist...
He's now playing Commercial Pop and R&B, He told me b4, ROCK is the only way to go....
He's now dancing as well.... and when I asked him to go for lessons as such, he was laughing thinking I was crazy...

And now... he tells me...HE LOVES IT...hahahahahaha

*THINKS BACK*...and he thought i was crazy...

He then said,' I never knew you were right... about everything...sorry Gina, I left Singapore without a goodbye or a closure, and whatever you said before... is so right, I'm learning all the hard way now! '

I laughed it off... and said...' cos' artistes think mainly for themselves...hahaha'

Then the conversation carried on with this question from him,
" Hey Gina, as a Artiste Manager, does EMI have to quarantine us * artistes * ? like, why does the artistes need to be hidden away until their official launch?"

He explained, he broke up with gf, and was stuck in training, in all sorts of skills, writing songs,
and they had to write 60 plus songs, to auditioned, and select 12 of the 60 to be cut into their album.... he was shocked...he thought they can just record 12 songs of their(artistes') choice... but its the manager's and label's decision...hahahaha...

Plus he said... for every song, he had to record 4 chords of a song, he took 9 days to record... recording after recording... until those 4 chords were perfect in the manager's, label's and music producer's view.

Well... I gave him my answer... and he said,' YEAH! that's what EMI said too!'

what's my answer? Only for my artistes to know, if they bother to ask....and listen.

Possibility doubting myself a few years back, if I can be a good artiste manager...

This call is just one of the few assurances that I AM MAMA G, and I'm an Artiste Manager, I can be a great one...so can my partners.... Janet and Ivy!

Last evening well...actually its this morning, I was feeling the stress for this coming week... and keeping myself mentally strong... like how my last entry blogs...

Then I took a min to distress, hahah did a novalty quiz... 'what are you born to do?'

I'm a HERO!!!!!!!!!!!



Anyway... woke up with gastric today... so was workign from home... and yes... my mobile went non stop... and my ears are "well done" from the radiation from my nokia...

Actually...

where do I start?

Its quite typical for me when my day has it last minutes changes...

frustrating really, but its typical, all in a day's work!

Anyway... today... has its hiccups as well as changes... but somehow... feels messy today.

However I managed the day... in a ok fashion.

When to Mediacorp to watch Campus Superstar, went with Rachael to watch...yh and Mic joined me too...

So many fans and supporters got her gifts... from letters, to food products to food for her well-being too!

Somewhat I got this feeling this week is going to be of the most few stressful weeks so far ...

Since the beginning of '09, its been so busy and stressful, but i know this week is one of the toughest I'll have to pull through, I WILL & MUST cos' I'm...

Sunday...not really that Sunny le...

Well its was almost completely a wet Sunday, as I rise and shine, I see dark clouds as I viewed thru my window besides my all so comfy bed!



Breakfast... Newspaper.... Emails, surf for news...* yes, I did find something interesting to read about*... face book!



Made a few calls to confirm my appointments for the day... meet, cancelled, confirmed, postponed... last minutes.... hehehe... standard day!



Went for Y.E.C. Meeting... 1pm sharp!! hehehe...went thru about our Y.E.C musical!!



Hehehe Me and TY in charge of Casting... so fun! And I'm also doing the Publicity and Marketing!



Later, TY reminded me about ROMP IV@ Zouk( organised by Youth Empire and partnered with PAYM)...well tonight, I didn't planned to go, as was taken up with another appointment.



As a blessing in disguised, the original appointment was cancelled, and LC asked us to go, and she's judging... *NA NA Sisters must unite!* so might as well I go, cos VIP tixs.. means no Q!!Arranged some artistes to go.... RC wanted to go, but asked if I had any for friends... unfortunately, sad to say... I'm mama g to my artistes only, so this is only for MY People... I had to turn her down regarding her friends... anyway she chose to go with them.



So after meeting, "flew" home, settle some work on the computer, then rush to dress for the event.



Just before I left, ai yo... mini drama (I'm indirectly involved)... suddenly some artistes wanted to go.... so I have to make arrangements for the VIP tixs as it was limited or in a way all given out le...



Flew down via cab... then met up with my artistes 1st, then collected my tixs... RC was there with her friends... But they had to purchase the tics, though I heard actually verbally they were told the tickets were free.Being the typical me, MAMA G, my heart soft liao lor, see RC like that... told her to wait... pulled a few strings... *wide grin*.... managed to get her a VIP tix...and yes... her friends too, I'm not that mean afterall ok?



Anyway... entering Zouk... RC was refused due to some silly very minor reason... hmmm being her AM, I must stay outside with her for more than an hour, so made some calls, pulled some strings... and since she is wo UAN de ren, I WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN, SHE WILL ENTER THE EVENT!



And I DID!!! She was brought in with Youth Empire's Empress entrance ( GOH of the night )...



SWEET!!!...went in and joined the rest...



Perfect timing... the event just started as we reached, oh did I mentioned, Minister George Yeo is of the GOH as well?



nice dance... ermmm.... so so fashion show...no offends, just my work hazards kicks in when someone claims they are a 'talent' ...



Event ends, and I decided to leave, said my goodbyes... and sorry LC, was looking for you, but missed you, so I took off 1st with my artistes....

IMPACT CAMP

Honestly, I've been so busy the past week juggling so much work, I had to squeeze like wee hours in the morning, to making sure I can and will get this camp (event) done up nice!


Last year's event was GREAT...and topping the last experience was difficult, as its was close to perfection, put in alot of effort to create a some sort like amazing race through the History of UAN last year.

This year...
Creating an idea of a challenge and E.G.G. experience for artistes was more than a day's work!

Impact Camp 2009, the experience starts from the day before the event, I mailed a letter to every participant's residence, days before... and the mail was distinctively unique, making the experience more than just a day at the beach. In the mail, they're are 'instructed' on where to meet, what to do and bring...

I want to make the participants feel different, and felt as if this was a challenge for themselves, mentally, emotionally, physically(eventually).

Upon meeting at sentosa, the participants had a 'pledge' Ceremony among themselves, pledging their honor among their team members, to stand by them throughout this journey. This is meant to educate the artistes, a sense of teamwork, and leadership among themselves.

Even the activities played were theme related... they had alot of fun...
Showered... and everyone had their chance to put on their BRAND NEW POLO SHIRT!
A nice shade of Blue, with UAN embroidered in gold....

I wore my Polo shirt with so much pride, I was immersed in it!! Seeing my artistes wearing theirs with smiles and following that, it attracted attention from the beach yuppies in sentosa...
It felt so good... just felt that...YES! I'M A UAN ARTISTE! I'M UAN!

Tired.... its almost 5am

I have to truly apologies my dear readers...

my eye lids are so heavy but I feel I ought to drop a note or two before i hit the sack.

Right after my trip... I've been in and out, up and down... my mobile is hardly off my ears... and sleep close to 3 to 4 am...today is the record of the week.

Ok, enough of whining! I'm not...busy is good, specially this time of the year.

And being busy, keeps me on my toes with whose, what's and where, when...not how, but what's next?

I'm so busy till coming weekend, I've got an event going on, and I'm at my brink of making it HAPPEN...PERFECT at the same time, set my other important stuff like, reports, appointments, proposals, contracts, artistes, and time management.

But... seriously, with the above said... I'm clearly happy with myself for awhile...

At least I don't feel lost or losing my focus....

I can't wait for more to come....

Am I too ambitious? Maybe? I love what I do, specially when I want perfection, drive others wild... but its PERFECTS THE RESULT.

Today was a super day.... in alot of definitions...

from 11plus when to k box for vocal training with my 'kids', Rachael came along to sit... and...observe and eat and drink!

Anyway... besides that, I brought the gifts I got for the girls.... SUPER BLING BIG BAGS...

And 'I LOVE MAMA, and always thank you' TEEs for the guys!!!

And brought YH's bday gift... ITS HIS BDAY TODAY!!!! WELL...YESTERDAY!

Plus a belated Bday gift from Miss Chin.....MARC JACOB rocks huh?!?!? hehehehe

Anyway... after class went to Media Fiesta's road show to see Terrence for his OKTO 'Live'! segment on TV... then went over to Sakae Sushi with Rachael and Micheal...

Went to help The guys to get YH a bday gift.... then met up with some my other artistes for a meeting... then... finally at midnight for home....

Back from Bangkok, happy as hell...

Bought what i need, what my sister needs, for mum and dad...and a few nice gifts for others too.

The luggage was sucky... cos' it was heavy and I was worried about telling the taxi uncle where i stay, east side, he might be pissed... THINKING...

"help carry heavy luggage, and kena sai, she lives so near the airport, wasted time Q(ing) for a tourist customer..."

anyway... the ride was ok, as usual, every time i take a cab back from the airport, the taxi uncle didn't came out and help me with the luggage, though it was pouring like mad at my place, at the ground level, it was pitched dark, damn scary like a horror movie, i took a deep breath and quickly went into the 1st lift opened.

Reached home, hahaha she asked, where my things??! with that sparkle in her eyes...

like a Santa Claus, i told her to wait... as i was still outside the main door...

*fast forward* too many OH...YES! AHA! SO NICE...NOT BAD....HEHEHEHE....YES YES YES!

She was OVER THE MOON and so is mum and dad!

Showered...read the local papers that i missed out over the week...

then went online, check mail, MSN, hui shi's fc site..and other work related stuff.

it was 4am by then... sleep...

this morning... sigh, received an sms about the sad news... I'm sorry to hear.

I wish we can be there...
I wish we can do something...
I wish we can say the right things...

Though she didn't made it through, its ok, personally for me as her AM, all is good if she is happy, I'm so glad for her, I'm glad she is blessed.

She is a winner in many eyes. In the meantime people, keep your eyes on a look out, hui shi will return...
